Graviera Naxou PDO

Graviera Naxou PDO

Graviera Naxou PDO (product of Protected Designation of Origin) is without a doubt the "flagship" of production and the biggest pride of the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Naxos!

This hard cheese with pale yellow color, fine dry skin, compact elastic mass, characteristic small scattered holes, delicate aroma, sweet and delicate flavor and very characteristic aftertaste has for years gained fame as one of the top Greek cheeses, while it is ideal for all uses (table, grating, saganaki, etc).

Graviera Naxou PDO of the EAS Naxos is made from 80% cow's milk minimum and 20% sheep and goat's milk, with the addition of traditional rennet. Naxos generates about a thousand tons of this fine cheese a year, which, in addition, cheeses using milk exclusively from animals living and rearing on the island, following the rules of traditional cheese at all stages of the process, while avoiding the addition of dust, preservatives, antibiotics and dyes, condensation and milk concentrate

It is also worth mentioning that Graviera Naxos PDO has a high calcium content, and 11 kilograms of milk is used to produce a kilo of Graviera, and has been designated by many institutes and scientists as one of the most suitable cheeses for consumption by young people because it provides valuable help in their development!

Finally, Graviera Naxou PDO of the EAS Naxos has earned many domestic and international distinctions, which are proof of its high quality. Among other things, he has won the golden award at the Greek Cheese Festival in 2011 as well as the two Stars in the Higher Taste Competition at the iTQi Institute in Brussels in 2015, 2016 and 2018, and in 2017 he won the Golden Prize at the TasteOlymp Awards.
